Eliminate all your rattles and draughts
If your existing windows are in reasonably good condition, a refurbishment and overhaul will leave your windows as good as new. Even if your windows are in bad condition a refurbishment may be necessary if your building is listed or is a protected structure.
The processes involved vary greatly from job to job as there is no such thing as a standard up n’ down sash window. Up n’ down sash windows were made with varying degrees of quality over hundreds of years. Some were maintained better than others. Some were more exposed to weathering than others and because of all these factors each refurbishment job can be much different to the next and even within each job each window has to be treated differently for refurbishment purposes.
When it comes to refurbishment we carry out a full assessment for reasons stated above and then we sit down with the client and try to determine their aspirations for the windows. We ask the client what are their priorities - be it draught proofing, lower u values or aesthetics. However it is possible to achieve all of these improvements to the windows while keeping the character of your windows.
See our Refurbishment Case Study for a better idea of the work we can do.
